A passion seems to grow stronger in me the last few months. 2007 was a year of finding purpose and combining all the puzzle pieces. Most while sharing thoughts with people and doing so I learned to appreciate a lot of valuable things more and more. Things that did not even seem to be new [...]

It was a contest organized by the Cartesius Institute and had entries from Portugal, Latvia, UK, Australia, Turkey, Italy, the Netherlands etc. The quality of the entries struck me. Lately I keep my eye on the Dollar. It keeps on falling compared to other currencies. Today it seems to near a psychologically boundary of 80 on its index comparing it to multiple currencies. It makes many investors nervous because breaking 80 can cause a panic. Screenshot of RTL Z (Dutch business program) – Dollar [...]

Lately I’m involved in many projects in which I touch many sides of society around me. By talking with many people I am learning about the common problems but also difference in thinking and kind of people that are working in that branch. It is nice to seek for connections and while talking it is [...]

Seeking Order We people tend to order everything. We are wired to see patterns and tend to describe them in structural language or mathematics. (the language of patterns) We people tend to follow these rules in life: Better measure means better prediction means better control. Small causes have small consequences. More and better order (regularity) [...]

Work 1.0 – Cubicled animals Companies are something set up by an entrepreneur with passion and most of the time run with a strict hierarchy in mind. There is one boss and several sub managers that each have their own responsibilities. As workdrone you have your own subset of tasks to work in an ‘oiled’ [...]

Media is the Messenger Media is all around us. Media informs, teaches, entertains and criticizes us. Media is our unconscious, it is omnipresent. It tells us who we are and how we need to live by stories in series or movies. Media is only the object of transport to deliver a message or feeling defined [...]

As we move to a more social society the old politics will not work anymore. There is a new enemy 2.0 and the people 2.0 will choose differently. Hierarchies will be a thing of the past. But leadership is needed to bring order to the society. What does the next politician look like? First Politics [...]

We can’t live without leadership. We as people need organizations to combat chaos. With groups we can accomplish more. And to function in groups we need leaders. But as defined in the big changes ahead for us post hierarchy will dissolve. What will this mean for leadership? First Leadership 1.0 Build in layers. Higher layers [...]

First Enemy 1.0 Enemy 1.0 was simply defined. It had a leadership, an army and territory. Countless real time strategy games and old fashioned games like Risk are based on this concept. The enemy was defeated when you overthrew the leadership and this meant or bigger armies or better technology. Who sat in the palace [...]

We are heading to a new social revolution. People communicate differently these days. With mobile phones, e-mail, chat, online socializing sites, hyves like myspaces, blogs and wikis we have a whole new kind of society growing in the world. People that are connected and free roaming, they are well informed and can filter good stuff [...]

There is something in the air. Big changes. You can feel it. Society will change forever. Change always begins in a time of uncertainty, time of fear. The problems with hierarchy Our society is full of hierarchies. Think of governments, bosses, managements, teachers, media, companies etc. There are all kinds of layers in our society, [...]

What is the goal of the evolution? The evolution can’t have a goal because it is not a conscious process. But the products of the process became conscious along the way. Creatures formed that could design itself by selecting a good partner to multiply itself. Selecting the right DNA building plans for their offspring. Forming [...]

After billions of years the evolution is still happening but at one of it’s most critical times ever. Evolution has formed a new giant step like DNA that can speed up the process considerably but can also turn the clock back big time. The previous article explained how evolution got to this point but what [...]

And it begins Everything started with a bang. Very hot, bright, but no-one to experience it. What (or who) caused that big bang is not known. Just moments after the explosion of matter there was a lot of chaos. But then the laws of physics kicked in and in just mere milliseconds the first quarks, [...]

The first design. What was the first thing we designed as the human race? Well we together designed ourselves. We as people select with who we mate so the best combination of genes will live on. Sometimes you just know you are on the right path but you can’t explain it. It is just a feeling. It is a feeling you get after absorbing lot’s of information on a certain area. Once this post would be written. My big unification post. What am I searching for… Well I was searching for the ultimate goal of design. Design has only one goal. To improve, to construct, to unify, to become one and simple. Design works with improving what already is. So it communicates better, so it works [...]

What is it about academia that they want to abstract everything? Why are there so many abstract articles and books that are incomprehensable for normal people? Well math is the universal language of the universe.
