MousLog > JurMo.us: New brand, familior feeling

I was in the mood for a big change for my site. My old domain name Arquelis.com was not feeling alright anymore. It was a relic from the past and I associated it with my scifi internet time and the days when nicknames were cool. The first step on this road was naming my weblog MousLog but in the end the domain and weblog name difference was confusing my ‘brand’ to visitors.
I now want to get back to the roots and only use my own name. I seached for a short and simple domain name and chose JurMo.us.
With a new name I wanted to give the site an updated feeling. I wanted the site to look familior with the new brand so I decided not to redesign the visual design but to improve the flow and feel of the site.
The changes:
- New brand, same familior feeling
- Improved archive and category pages for better browsing through past.
- Instant search in the upper right corner
- Instant commenting
- Only the most important links in less cluttered right sidemenu. (+ for all options)
- Less clutter in general on the site.
Expect some more evolution in the site in the future. Most of the AJAX changes are thanks to the prototype and scriptalicious libraries. For those interested: you can check my code out in the source of the pages. The changes were inspired by a wordpress skin named bloxpress 2.
Well these changes came with a cost… The ranks of JurMo.us at google and technorati are 0. Help me to rebuild what is lost: Update your RSS and Blog links

Update done. (Not that the link from Sans Image will change your PageRank)
Tried to locate your del.icio.us-page – currently you just link to del.icio.us. What’s your nick over there?

have you seen AjaxWp http://www.giannim.com/blog/?page_id=13 I think its far better than bloxpress

Indeed. But I did not keep the bloxpress stuff used it as inspiration on how to communicate with the script libraries.
AjaxWP ajax is indeed more impressive but found it still a bit to obtrusive in its standard mode. I like that they made the links accesible in the location bar of browser but do not like the format. But maybe it is worth a look at in the future. Although I have some other Ajax features on my list first.
But thanks for the suggestion!
