nice graph! a few more questions and a few of my answers:
- What happens when you move the now point?
I don’t get the “now point”
- How are new dominant movements born within design?
From right to left in your graph, first experimental, then goes from trend to dominant (standard?).
- Where is the most passion with users and creators?
old fashioned and experimental (passion is emotion!). In “classic” and “current standard” the main motivation of design will be money I think.
- Who decides which is the most dominant movement?
equals: “who designs what is fashion?”
- Where does retro belong on the conservative/progressive scale?
pfffff… don’t know
- Passion the main drive for movements?
Not always, if passion was the main drive for classical designs it should work! That’s not always the case…
- And what is the effect of those emotions on the more emotional neutral standard over time?
If you do.. tell us if it worked!
Please don’t use this as a pickup line

Now point – the current time, the point we are now on the colored movements timeline. But what happens when you move the point on the movements timeline? What happens to the layers of conservative-progressive with progression of time? Ah well it seems the definitions of the standard and fashion are the only things that are changing. As if the curve is actually moving along the design movements spectrum.
Retro seems to fit anywhere, a strange kind of movement. It continues to come back. To evaluate the past and try to take the best from it.
The last question is indeed vague
But I will try it out
Looking back I am not satisfied with this post. But I will try to learn from the experience
This post served more to clarify some stuff for myself and because posted alone it felt empty I experimented with some questions. I think I need to let these things evolve more before I post them.

[...] Evolving is mostly focussed on some of the design factors. These are translated into design movements that support some factors. These movements shift as attention to factors shift. [...]
