I like to watch series and to lose myself in the story. I have been watching many series, some were better than the others. But one stands out to me lately: Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica is a scifi series with ships in space and it’s main theme is robots. But it is nowhere close to what other scifi series did before. It deals with real humans and emotions. All the characters have serious character flaws, they make mistakes, they can doubt themselves and their believes, they can become a lunatic, they change, they can die. They are real!

The story deals with the last remnants of a human civilisation almost completely destroyed by their robots that rebelled and helped with some big mistakes of some humans. In their latest versions the robots look like the humans, they have emotions, believes and religion. They believe they are the next step upward on the evolutionary ladder to perfection. It is nice to see the believes of both camps and even sometimes believe in the side of the robots. It is nice to see some big ethical discussions in another light in the series. Not everything value we have can be hold true in every situation.

Well the whole series is an emotional joyride. At every moment something can happen that affects the whole series. The writers are not afraid to turn everything upside down and to do something against your expectations. This series keeps you on your edge. It manages to move me…

Well this new kind of realistic drama scifi is fortunately a succes and moves from the scifi channel to primetime on a big network in the USA. So we can expect more of those great episodes. A big thanks to Ron Moore and his team for this great remake!
